LOC Scientific had the privilege of working with The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation with their new conservation analytical laboratory. LOC contributed to the new project by furnishing the lab with cabinetry and furniture. The lab was also equipped with advanced analytical instruments that will assist the Foundation in their collection and conservation efforts.
At first glance, the KCPD Vehicle Processing Facility appears to be a standard mechanic’s shop. In the large, open layout of the main bay area, there are six vehicle bays, each equipped with air tools and a work light, all suspended from reels on the ceiling. These tools will be used for removing tires or other parts from vehicles. Two of the bays have lifts, which will be useful when technicians need to look under a vehicle for damage or for trace evidence.
The renovation and expansion of the science classrooms of the Virgin Islands Dept. of Education presented a unique opportunity for LOC Scientific. The overall goal of the spaces was to enhance the original layout by creating a design that would be more student/user friendly. The renovated classrooms needed to be equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories designed for their targeted needs.
Fume hoods are vital safety tools designed to shield laboratory personnel from harmful fumes, vapors, and particulates. But why is it important to work in the fume hood? Knowing this helps guarantee that lab technicians and researchers are protected from dangerous chemicals and substances. When used correctly, a fume hood safeguards the health of lab workers while also maintaining the integrity of the experiments and processes being carried out. Let us explore the vital role of fume hoods in laboratory environments, focusing on their benefits and the risks they mitigate.
If you’ve selected the incorrect lab equipment, you aren’t alone. One of the most common interactions we have with parties looking to build a new lab is the intention of their labs or a misperception of what they actually need from their lab furniture. What you can learn by looking at various labs, is that no one is the same and all are designed with specific purposes in mind.
With so many options available, it can be difficult to tell which fume hood is right for your laboratory. LOC Scientific has been helping outfit all types of labs for more than 25 years, and we’re here to make the process of choosing a fume hood easier.
If you work with flammable materials in a lab, you may have wondered, “What is a flammable cabinet, and why is it essential?” A flammable cabinet is a specialized storage unit designed to safely store flammable liquids and chemicals. These cabinets are made to reduce fire risks and protect lab personnel by securely containing hazardous substances.
Lab tasks often involve flammable chemicals, high temperatures, and volatile reactions. These factors make fire hazards a significant concern. Understanding what a fire blanket is used for in a lab highlights its role in mitigating these risks.
Laboratories are environments where precision, safety, and functionality meet to enable research and discovery. However, the nature of lab setups often leaves room for inefficiencies and safety risks. That’s where 3D laboratory design changes the game.
Metallurgy is a specialized field that focuses on the study of metals and their properties. Metallurgy labs play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of metal components used in various industries. These labs conduct tests to assess metal strength, durability, and resistance to failure. This makes sure the safety of products in aerospace, automotive, and construction industries. Understanding the role of these labs helps you appreciate the rigorous process behind the production of everyday items.
