New Accounts
  • How do I setup an account with LOC Scientific?

Contact us for an account application. We will respond to your credit request within 24 hours. After we receive your information, we will validate the information is correct, then notify you of your account activation. For information regarding the usage and security of your personal and company information, see our Privacy Policy.

  • How long does it take to setup my account?

The credit validation process may take up to 5 business days provided the information is correct.

  • Do I have to setup an account with LOC to place an order or Request For Quote?

No. We also accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and of course cash as valid forms of payment. However, most of our customers prefer to setup an account in order to take advantage of discounts and simple integration with their purchasing systems.

  • What are your payment terms?

Standard terms of payment are 1% discount within 10 days and Net 30 days. We will submit progress invoices if a project requires it.

Placing an Order
  • When can I expect items to be delivered?

Stock items ship within 3-5 business days after receipt of order and credit approval. All other items ship within 4-6 weeks. Custom items may take up to 12 weeks for delivery.

  • Which items do you stock in inventory?

We stock 4’ and 6’ fume hoods and laboratory counter tops, 4’ and 6’ fume hood cabinets, and a selection of Watersaver fixtures.

  • Do you ship overseas?

Yes we ship overseas using freight forwarding. We   can ship items directly to port or door to door.

  • How do you handle freight and crating costs?

We can ship F.O.B. Jobsite or F.O.B. Factory. Crating may be necessary depending on the freight carrier and for shipping overseas. Freight and crating are considered additional costs to your order.

  • Can you build or design custom items?

Numerous items can be custom-built to your specifications. Custom items may take up to 12 weeks for delivery.

  • What is Epoxy Resin?

Epoxy resin is a casted substrate using a modified thermo-setting epoxy resin, cured in a pourable mold.

  • What is Phenolic Resin?

A material made from thermoset resins, reinforced with cellulose fibers, and manufactured under extremely high pressure and temperature. This process ensures flatness and uniformity guaranteeing years of repeated cleaning will not detract from its use or appearance.

  • Is Epoxy and Kemresin the same thing?

Yes. Kemresin is a trade name for epoxy.

  • Can Epoxy Resin be repaired?

Using Scott’s Liquid Gold or Old English Lemon Oil can improve scratches and dull finishes.

  • What is the difference between Epoxy and Trespa?

Epoxy is a casted epoxy resin. Trespa is a phenolic resin.

  • What are the differences between Trespa Toplab, Toplab Plus, and Athlon?

The Trespa Athlon is designed for applications where the chemical and UV resistance is not as critical. The Trespa Toplab is a highly chemically resistant, non-porous surface preventing fungus and bacteria growth with incredible UV resistance. The Trespa Toplab Plus extends the Toplab series with even more durability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.

  • Which material is more expensive for laboratory casework?

Wood is the most expensive material, followed by plastic laminate, then metal.

  • Are chemical resistant finishes available?

There are numerous options available for chemical resistant finishes on laboratory casework.

  • What kinds of Door/Drawer configurations are available on laboratory casework?

There are numerous options of configurations to meet all your needs.

  • For budget pricing, what is the average price per linear foot?

For budgeting purposes, we recommend calculating $140.00 per linear foot, which does not include laboratory counter tops. However, door/drawer configurations can greatly affect this estimate.

  • Are the backs removable?

All of our laboratory casework has standard removable backs.


Fume Hoods

  • Can you custom design a fume hood?

Yes, we can design a custom fume hood based on your specifications.

  • Do I need other items with my Fume Hood?

All standard “general chemistry” laboratory fume hoods require a “remote exhaust blower” and “ductwork” in order to operate. These items do not come standard with fume hoods.

  • What type of blower or duct does my fume hood need?

Fume hoods vary widely in their application. Choosing the right blower and duct is essential for safety and longevity. We can help you determine the best possible blower and duct for your fume hoods given the application.

 

Laboratory Fixtures
  • Are replacement parts available?

Yes, replacement parts are available.

  • Why are vacuum breakers required on water faucets?

Hazardous material can siphon directly into the water lines. To prevent this, vacuum breakers are required on water faucets.

  • What types of laboratory fixtures are available?

The most common fixtures are air, water, vacuum, and gas. The fixture and its options are dependant on application.

  • What is required for ADA compliant Faucets?

The ADA requires 4” blade handles for compliance.

  • Is the serrated nozzle changeable?

The serrated nozzle can be replaced with an aerator, hose connector, or aspirator.

Installation
  • Do you provide installation service?

Yes. For an extra charge, we can provide installations in a specified area.

  • What types of installations are available?

We offer 2 types, one being “turnkey” which means not only setting your furniture, tops and fume hoods, but also total mechanical connections including duct runs and calibration/certification of your fume hoods. The second, “non-mechanical”, includes only the setting of laboratory furniture, laboratory counter tops, and fume hoods, wipe down, door and drawer adjustments. If you do not have a dependable source of personnel to complete the mechanical portion of your installation, consider our turnkey solution.

  • Where do you provide installations?

We provide blanket coverage throughout North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. We can also provide installation through most of North America, the Caribbean, South and Central America.

  • What is the average price for installations?

Typically, installations costs average $35.00 per linear foot for non-mechanical installations.

  • Can I install the laboratory furniture myself?

Yes. You may use a third party or perform installations in-house. We will consult with your installation team to answer your installation questions and help you resolve problems free of charge.

Laboratory Designs

  1.   Can you provide site visits for consultation?

Yes. We can provide on-site consultation where necessary. However, most consultation can be successfully conducted via phone, fax, and email.

  • Can you help me decide what I need?

Yes. Our experienced staff can help you choose what’s right for you and even help you design your labs to ensure you will have a safe and comfortable laboratory for years to come.

  • What information do I need to provide?

If you would like us to help you design your laboratory, room dimensions, type of furniture, and number of people using the lab are required to provide you the best possible design. If you already have plans, elevation views, or other drawings, we can work with them to provide you with best design for your needs.

  • Do you have representatives in other countries?

Yes. We currently have a representative in Puerto Rico and are rapidly expanding throughout Latin and South America.
